The first day in a new place is always a little strange. One has to get used to the new environment. I believe that the more someone tries to adapt the faster he gets used to new spots and new people.
We are back in South Carolina for Christmas. We are staying at the Hilton near the Corner. As you said, great location! Our trip included LA, California and the coast of Oregon (which was spectacular).
I looked at the street name and saw that we were at the right hotel but on the wrong street. That is when I suspected that there were several hotels with the same name, one original and the rest copycats.
