We were indeed the only ones there so we took our time and enjoyed the moment. A little later we ate lunch which consisted of the snacks we had brought and a coconut. It was only one o'clock.
I understand that you use the article 'die' when talking about a feminine object, das when the subject is neutral, and der when talking about a masculine object. But how can you remember all these?
At the third or fourth guesthouse we finally took a room. Of course the hot water would not work, and luckily we were upgraded to a terrific, huge room with balcony and garden. It was a very charming place.
