Imperative - Tu - Italian

The informal imperative for "tu" ("you") is used to give commands, requests, or advice.

Rules for formation:

• Regular verbs ending in -are: parlare → parla (ending becomes -a)
• Regular verbs ending in -ere or -ire: prendere → prendi, dormire → dormi (ending becomes -i)
• Irregular verbs: fare → fai, dire → di', andare → vai, stare → stai, dare → dai
• Exception: In the negative form, use "Non + infinitive" (Non parlare!, Non prendere!)

Examples:

• "Parlare" (to speak) ends in -are: Parla più forte! (Speak louder!)
• Negative (DO NOT speak): Non parlare adesso! (Don't speak now!)
• "Prendere" (to take) ends in -ere: Prendi il libro! (Take the book!)
• Negative: Non dormire troppo! (Don't sleep too much!)
