Imperative Plural - Voi - Italian



The plural imperative for "voi" ("you" plural) is used to give commands, requests, or advice to several people.

Rules for formation:
  • Use the present indicative
  • Regular verbs ending in -are: parlare → parlate
  • Regular verbs ending in -ere or -ire: prendere → prendete, dormire → dormite
  • Irregular verbs: fare → fate, dire → dite, andare → andate, stare → state, dare → date
  • Negation: Non + verb (Non parlate!, Non prendete!)

Examples:
  • "Parlare" (to speak) ends in -are: Parlate più forte! (Speak louder!)
  • Negative (DO NOT speak): Non parlate adesso! (Don't speak now!)
  • "Prendere" (to take) ends in -ere: Prendete il libro! (Take the book!)
  • Negative: Non dormite troppo! (Don't sleep too much!)
